Allen Xiao

Allen Xiao is a Chinese Ph.D. student in Geography (with minor in African Studies) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He got M.Phil. in anthropology and completed research on Chinese migrants in Nigeria, which has been published in Politique Africane and Journal of Current Chinese Affairs. Now his interests lie in the making of multi-ethnic Lagos and shifting Yorùbá identity to the place-identities. He has been learning Yorùbá at UW-Madison and Orúkọ re ni Kọ́ládé. During the summer 2016, he is doing a research project on ethnic interactions and city-identities in a neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria.
