Ruth Trumble is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography at UW-Madison. She received her M.S. in geography from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. Her dissertation examines the local impacts of the May 2014 floods in southeastern Europe. This summer she will conduct interviews and participant observation in Serbia to better understand the ways in which expertise was understood and implemented during flood response and recovery. Her project explores how expertise enacted during moments of crises shapes the ways in which communities recover from environmental disasters.
