Noah Theriault is a doctoral student in Cultural Anthropology, with undergraduate degrees in Anthropology and Spanish from Arizona State University. Broadly stated, Noah studies how the social and environmental are mutually implicated in both policy and practice. For his dissertation, Noah will carry out ethnographic research in the Philippines, where he will examine the intersection between recent NGO-led conservation projects and long-standing government efforts to regulate minority populations. Noah’s research is animated not only by intellectual curiosity, but also by a personal commitment to social and environmental justice. For his internship, Noah will work with the Environmental Legal Assistance Center in Palawan, where he will help conduct research on the local implications of global climate change.
