Aloke Thakore

Aloke Thakore is a graduate student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He was a working journalist before he decided to pursue the doctoral program. He has worked for CNBC in Asia and the Statesman, Calcutta, and continues to be a freelance journalist. His interests, both academic and professional, are in media law and policy as they impinge upon the practice of journalism in a world order increasingly dominated by media conglomerates. A fellow of the Poynter Institute Media Leadership Program and a 21st Century Trust Fellow, Aloke is engaged in practicing and thinking about a journalism that moves beyond institutional coverage to share the lived experiences of people.
