Matt Sienkiewicz is a graduate student in the Communication Arts department in the area of Media and Cultural Studies. Prior to graduate school, Matt worked as a producer, writer and cinematographer, creating documentaries and television programs for various American PBS affiliates and international stations such RTPi in Portugal. He received an Emmy Nomination for his work in scripting the award-winning comedy series Windy Acres. Matt’s academic interests include Jewish media representation and production, ethnicity in contemporary comedy, Israeli and Palestinian media and the relationship between media and democracy. Through the help of the SKJ internship fellowship, Matt will spend the summer in Israel and the West Bank, serving as director of photography for a documentary entitled Live From Bethlehem, which will focus on the internationally funded, Palestinian-operated Ma’an News television network.
