Laura Martin is the Ibero-American Studies and Romance Languages Librarian at the UW-Madison Libraries. She is the subject liaison to the Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies Program (LACIS), the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, and the Department of French and Italian. She holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from UW-Madison and a Master’s degree in French Literature from the University of Georgia. She is an active member of the Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials (SALALM), the Libraries, Archives and Digital Scholarship Section of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), the European Studies Section of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL), and the Collaborative Initiative for French Language Collections (CIFNAL). Her research and collection development interests include cartonera books, comic books/graphic novels, and 19th and early 20th century Mexico. Prior to joining the UW-Libraries, she worked as a translator in La Paz, Bolivia.
