Madhavi Mallapragada

Madhavi Mallapragada is a doctoral candidate in the Media and Cultural Studies division of the Department of Communication Arts. Her recent interests include cyberculture studies, especially within the context of diasporic communities. Presently, she is looking at the relationship between the websites that cater to the “Indian” diasporic communities in the United States, the shifts in the political and cultural economy of the Web and the presence and politics of the US-based Indian diaspora in the high-tech computer industry. Her other interests involve understanding and developing nuanced ways of engaging with the role of media industries, institutions and programs in the context of everyday lives.
