Essie Lenchner (she/her) is the Assistant Director at the Institute for Regional and International Studies (IRIS) National Resource Center at UW-Madison. She previously worked in a variety of roles within IRIS, including as the travel coordinator and later as Assistant Director for the Middle East Studies Program. Essie is the current co-chair of IRIS’s outreach committee, and co-administrator of the South Asia Book Award; she manages all IRIS outreach programming including the book and film clubs, Global Scholars Media Community and the Global Libraries Grant, and enjoys learning the latest online marketing strategies to promote the center’s events and programming. Prior to joining UW-Madison, she produced several online conferences and worked in the outdoor industry.
