Rachel DeMotts is a graduate student of Political Science who specializes in the politics of South Africa, Swaziland and Namibia. Her research focuses on transborder environmental resource conflicts. In particular, she is concerned with clarifying and improving the role played by national and international organizations in their efforts to mediate and solve such disputes among resource-poor indigenous communities. She is also studying the current trend towards transborder environmental conservation corridors and the political obstacles in the way of their creation and management.
