E. Kwaku Mintah Danquah is a PhD. Student in African History at UW-Madison. He obtained his MPhil. in History from the University of Ghana and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Education, Winneba. His research interests include African decolonization, African American/Diaspora return migrations to Africa, the creation of Black colonial projects such as Liberia and transnational and European imperial histories in West Africa in the 19th and 20th centuries. His current research examines how indigenous Kru migrants from Liberia used their connections in British West Africa to counteract the hegemonic designs of the Americo-Liberian State in the 19th and 20th centuries. Funding from the Skott Kloeck-Jenson Fellowship will enable Mintah to conduct preliminary archival research and oral interviews in Liberia.
