Join Educational Policy Studies and Dr. Derron Wallace for The Culture Trap: Ethic Expectations and Unequal Schooling for Black Youth in London and New York, where he will utilize his recent ethnography, The Culture Trap, to explore the different economic, historical, and societal factors that influence the education that black youth in London and New York receive.
Dr. Derron Wallace is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Education at Brandeis University, USA, and Research Fellow at the Centre on the Dynamics of Ethnicity at the University of Manchester, UK. He is a cultural sociologist of race, ethnicity, and education. Prior to becoming an academic, Derron worked as a Community Organizer with Citizens UK, as a Special Assistant to the Minister of Education in Rwanda, as a consultant with local educational authorities in London, and as a National Director at The Posse Foundation in the U.S.A.
