A universities’ mission statement helps to outline the goals, values, and purpose behind the existence of the institution. As sustainability and the need for sustainable development continues to become a priority for organizations worldwide, the amount of universities that commit to these ideals continues to grow. In an upcoming virtual talk, Dr. Elizabeth Buckner of the University of Toronto will explore both who undergoes these commitments and the common strategies these universities commit to when undergoing these goals.
Elizabeth Buckner is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Prof. Buckner is a member of the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education, and holds the Canada Research Chair in Higher Education for Sustainable Global Development. Her research examines how global trends affect higher education policies, institutional practices, and students’ lives. She teaches courses on comparative higher education, the internationalization of higher education, the sociology of higher education and research design.
