During this conversation, Sandhya will reflect on her journey as an illustrator and animator, sharing insights into the creative process and the significance of bringing South Asian stories to life through children’s literature. The discussion will be moderated by members of the South Asia Book Award committee who are also educators.

Originally from Chennai, India, Sandhya Prabhat is an independent illustrator and animator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned an MFA in Animation and Digital Arts from NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia and holds a bachelor’s degree in Literature from Stella Maris College.
