The Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials (SALALM) is hosting its 71st annual conference, Politics of Place: Land and the State in Latin America, the Caribbean, and its Diasporas is coming this June in Madison, Wisconsin!

Participants will explore how relationships to land, place, sovereignty, and the state shape cultures, knowledge systems, and communities across Latin America, the Caribbean, and their diasporas. Through panels, roundtables, workshops, and keynote discussions, attendees will engage with questions surrounding archives, land-grant institutions, environmental relationships, and the ways records and information mediate understandings of place.
