The Wisconsin International Resource Consortium (WIRC) and IRIS NRC will be hosting the International Children’s Literature Celebration: Folk and Fairytales on Saturday, December 2nd, from 9am-4pm at the Madison Concourse Hotel. This day long workshop for educators, librarians, students, and children’s literature enthusiasts will feature the following award-winning authors and children’s literature experts from UW-Madison:
- Rochelle Hassan, author of The Buried and the Bound
- Karla Arenas Valenti, author of Loteria
- Lori M. Lee, author of Pahua and the Soul Stealer
The $25 registration fee includes lunch and the author signing session. This workshop is funded by grants from the US Department of Education, which prohibit us from using these funds to pay for food. Thus, the $25 registration fee is needed to cover the cost of lunch and refreshments. You can register here:
WIRC will be offering a limited number of complimentary one-night stays at the Concourse Hotel on Friday, December 1st. This is only available for K-12 educators who live more than an hour away.
The first 25 registrants will receive a book bundle, including all books listed above plus New Approaches to Teaching Folk and Fairy Tales, edited by Christa C. Jones and Claudia Schwabe
