Every year, the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) hosts Global Day to explore the globally diverse range of knowledge at UW-Madison and how we can use this to address global challenges that we face. The 2024 theme will be Wisconsin & the World, highlighting both the international influence of Wisconsin and how it is shaped by global processes. This event will be on February 27th from 11:00am-4:30pm in Varsity Hall at Union South. Register with the “Register Here” button above!
Dean Glenda Gillaspy of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences will be delivering the opening remarks.
This year’s keynote address will be delivered by the Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor, Sara Rodriguez.
The sessions at this year’s Global Day include:
- A keynote address from Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor, Sara Rodriguez
- A talk from Dr Jonathan Øverby of Wisconsin Public Radio
- An international research themed poster competition
- Networking roundtable sessions
- A photo contest surrounding the theme of Wisconsin & the World
- A lecture by University of Wisconsin alumni William Hsu on examples of Wisconsin & the World
- A series of panels on UW-Madison on the world stage
Global Day will also feature a poster contest that will allow participants to demonstrate their international experiences or research with the broader campus community. Four winners of the competition will receive a $500 award. The event will have a dedicated time to present your posters to a diverse group of attendees.
